She graduated with a PhD in Medicine at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and with Master in Retina and Vitreous at Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular (IMO) of Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona
She is member of Health Research Institute at Fundación Jiménez Díaz in Madrid, thus she has involved in clinical trials and projects of different ophthalmology areas such as: Meibomian gland dysfunction, Drug Project RNA interference for ocular pain, study of the macular hole in highly myopic eye and Development of a new macular buckle prototype. Besides she is reviewer and author in different international journals.
She has been involved in international working groups, e.g.: Meibomian gland dysfunctions consultant (Vitsearch, 2014), studies at OstseeKlinik in Damp, Germany (2006) and clinical researches at the Tropical Medicine Institute of Asunción, Paraguay (2006). Her recent studies are aimed to analyse the influence of omega 3 in the dry eye by means of a multi-centre project on behalf the Dry Eye Clinical Study Group.
To conclude, her professional and academic background is focused on: retinal detachment in its various forms, retinal vascular disorders, macular disorders, intraocular tumours, intraocular inflammation and Retinal dystrophies.
